How To Clean Off Moss From Your Roof ?
Generally, the hot and humid climate leads to certain problems concerned with your home maintenance. One of them is the accumulation of unwanted plants (moss) on your roof. They not only dampen the surface of your roof but also pave way for an easy penetration of water into the interior walls and ceilings.
Hence, it becomes obligatory to clean your roof on a regular basis such that the moss is not able to weaken your roof structure at all.
In order to eliminate moss from your roof, you can go either the eco-friendly way or the harmful way. In case you want to get rid of that dense cover of moss as soon as possible, the household bleach can do the job for you. However, the harmful nature of the bleach prompts you to avoid using this chemical in the first place. The bleach dampens and weakens your roof surface and also poses a corrosion risk to gutters and downspouts.
The other way takes you to a manual cleaning off task that may be burdensome but very safe indeed.
Before you commence the project, make sure that you carry the right supplies with you. It would broadly include the cleaning tools and a ladder. A brush with long handle and a long garden are the two things that would particularly be of immense help. In addition, a wheelbarrow (to collect the moss residue) and an extension ladder (to reach the roof) would be required as well.
Take the ladder and rest it against the exterior wall of the home. Make sure that the ladder reaches out well to the roof and is not left stranded midway. The base on which the ladder stands must be rigid and firm. Once the ladder is well placed, climb up and observe the roof area that is covered by the moss. Don’t forget to take the brush and the garden rake with you to the roof. Also a large-sized cloth can be spread on the ground in order to collect the moss leftover.
Unease the moss with the help of the back end of the garden rake and clean off the uprooted plants with a long-handled brush thereafter.
Come down and clean off the scattered moss garbage to collect it in a wheelbarrow and dispose it off.
