Décor and Door Protection: How to Revamp Your Office

They way you present and maintain your office gives off a lot of information to rivals and visitors. It’s important to keep your office smart, clean and sophisticated. This is why the furniture you choice and the décor you decide on are very important. Below you will find my top tips for restyling your office, including everything from décor to door protection.

The Welcome
Guests arriving at the office will pass judgement based on what they see. Reception areas must be light and airy so that they feel welcoming. Waiting areas should be easy to find and comfortable. Either chairs or sofas are okay, but be sure to find the balance between comfortable and professional. You don’t want your reception area to look like someone’s lounge.

The Décor
Less is more. Don’t opt to paint entire areas bright or overbearing colours. On the other hand, don’t be dull. You could incorporate the company’s colours in feature walls, or in artwork.

The Props
Carefully placed plants can add a bit of colour. The greenery will also boost morale. Having several plants around the office is a good idea, especially in darker corners. Just don’t let them die. Also, don’t be afraid to show off a little. If your company manufactures something which can feasibly be displayed in a cabinet in reception, then by all means display it. This personal touch shows visitors what your company is about. Other props to consider are water coolers, well organised shelving and file storage and industry specific magazines in reception for visitors to browse.

Tidiness
There is often a lot of clutter in kitchen areas and on staff desks. Staff should be expected to clean up their own mess. After all they are adults. Still, don’t be tempted to go to the other end of the spectrum and ban personal items on desks. Your staff spends a lot of time at those desks, and they should be comfortable. Besides, visitors like to see your personnel as individuals rather than drones.

The Maintenance
Protecting your office is important. If you don’t, you will find yourself spending money every few months to repair unsightly chips in paintwork. There is no sense in following these tips to revamp your office if you don’t bother to protect your hard work. You can buy a range of protective trims for doors and walls and they’re well worth the money. You might not have realised it until you stop to think about it now, but all those delivery boxes and tea trolleys are likely to do at least some damage to your walls and doors. Simple wall and door protection will eliminate this risk.
